Super-producer Timbaland is revealing that he wanted Drake to have a complete verse on Jay-Z's 'Blueprint 3' album. The 22-year-old Canadian rapper lends his vocals to the hook of 'Off That' but leaves the rapping to Jay. Tim, who produced the track, approached the hip-hop star and suggested that Drake's feature be bumped up to a full verse but Jay seemingly shot down his idea. "To me we took [Drake] out of his element. But [Jay-Z] said 'that's good for him,' I said let's go back and get him in the verse ... but that ain't my project. If it was up to me to redo it, I'd redo it that way."
Despite only being featured on the hook, Drake was satisfied with the opportunity to work with his idol. "Jay is one of those guys that you can say, 'I look up to this guy,' or 'I like this guy's music.' I wanted to be Jay," he said. "To have that man in my life and to be able to interact with him and talk to him and, best of all, work with him .... There's not a real sentence I can say to describe it."
