Lil Boosie Sentenced to Two Years in Jail for Drug Charge

New Orleans rapper Lil Boosie was sentenced to two years in jail on Tuesday, Sept. 22, after pleading guilty to a third-offense marijuana possession charge. Prior to making his plea, the 25-year-old rapper faced a total of 10 years in prison, stemming from an incident last October, when deputies seized marijuana and a gun from his car.

However, Boosie, born Torrence Hatch, made a last minute agreement with prosecutors, suspending the remaining eight years of his sentence in exchange for a guilty plea. He will now serve two years for the marijuana charge, and remain on supervised probation for the following 2-5 years after his release. Upon successfully completing his probation, the state will drop his gun charge.

"I'm ready to get it behind me and get further with my career," Boosie said outside the courtroom. The judge warned the rapper to stay away from drugs, guns and convicted felons for the foreseeable future, noting that if Boosie tests positive or is otherwise caught with drugs, the punishment will be severe.

"When I do catch up with you, I can assure you I will not abide by this agreement of 10 years. It will be much more," the judge sternly advised.

Boosie's guilty plea came just one day after it was announced that his 4th solo album 'Superbad: The Return of Boosie Bad Azz,' made the top 10 on Billboard's albums chart.
