Detroit rapper Royce da 5'9" spoke with MTV and confirmed the rumors that his group Slaughterhouse is in talks with Eminem about signing with Shady Records. "It's very much what it looks like," Royce revealed. "That's always a possibility. It's conversations being had, very good conversations. I just did an interview recently and they asked me to a address the rumors. I said, 'Rumors are what they are, people see things and they jump to a conclusion.' I never said it wasn't going to happen - I left it right there in the middle. I think it would be a great thing if it could happen."
Royce, who was in a group with Eminem called Bad Meets Evil back in 1997, claims to have been discussing the possibility of Slaughterhouse, which also features MCs Crooked I, Joell Ortiz and Joe Budden, signing with Eminem and manager Paul Rosenberg for a minute.
"I've been talking to Em and Paul for a long time," Royce explained. "With this particular situation, things are falling into place. Everything is in place where it's supposed to be. I'm very prepared [for] when the opportunity presented itself. It's a time where there's things they need over here and certain things we need in order to move over there. I think it's a good marriage. Like I said, I just hope it can happen."
Though no one at Shady has confirmed the rumor, the signing makes sense as Em becomes more involved in music and the Slaughterhouse MC's continue to build their buzz.
As for whether we'll see an Eminem/Slaughterhouse musical collaboration anytime soon, Royce played coy. "That'd be great, wouldn't it?" he replied.
Check out the video of the interview here. We'd love to see this happen -- between Raekwon's return and the possibility of Budden, Royce, Joell and Crooked making a major label comeback, it seems like things are finally taking a turn. Plus we'd love to hear the guys over some major production, i.e. Em's pal Dr Dre.
