Politicians in Fort Myers, Florida, hometown of rapper Plies, are hoping to ban hip hop shows and performances in the city's downtown area, following a stabbing at a recent Plies concert.
Councilman Warren Wright will argue for the banning of hip hop events at the Harborside Event Center, and other venues near downtown Fort Myers' riverfront, at an upcoming city council meeting this Monday (Oct. 5). Wright contends that rap-related events are generally responsible for "violence and disruption," citing the September 6th stabbing of a bouncer, following a Plies performance at the Harborside.
The ban has the vocal support of the city's newly elected mayor, Randy Henderson, who complained that he finds the music "vulgar," and is in favor of quieting Plies. "If there's a legal way to do that, it's a worthy idea," Henderson said.

Ok, so lets just ban every place that someone has gotten stabbed before then. The only reason that they r trying to do this is because he and hip-hop have some peoples panties in a wad. I bet when these people who oppose hip-hop were going up their older generation did not like their music either. This is the younger generation's; and a lot of older people's as well, taste of music. I'm a married, white man who is 38 and I love hip-hop and most definitely love plies.

that's not real hip hop, a true hip hop b-boy audience does not get down like that. Pass the cost along to the promoters and artist to sign they'll pick up the cost as a way to discourage that type of actions. Look at the audience and fanbase before booking these gigs. You can get around the cries racism and free speech if you just quantify the damage that these performances do.

you know im really ashamed at America, when did we become such judgemental pricks. We are all racist in some way in the back of our heads even if we dont voice it. Older people discriminate against the younger people. Younger people do the same to the older.
