Georgia-based duo, Field Mob, has had some trouble releasing records recently and the group's problems all seem to stem from trouble with the law. Field Mob member Shawn Jay was arrested in Jacksonville, Florida on Friday after failing to appear in court to sort out charges related to cocaine and marijuana possession. Jay's court date was scheduled after a March 27th arrest, where he was also accused of possessing a concealed weapon. After releasing separate work for the past few months, Field Mob's other half, Smoke, explained to HipHopWired that legal entanglements have been the reason for the duo's recent solo projects, and not any internal problems like some may have speculated.
"That's what it was! I went to jail, he went to jail. That's basically what it was. It never was a break up," he said. "People made it into a break up because we were rapping individually but when I was in jail, he was out. When I got out, he went in. Then when he got out, I went back in and then now I'm out and he about to go back in a few minutes. There's no need to be working with him if he can't be out to promote it."
The group's last studio album was 2006's 'Light Poles and Pine Trees,' and their follow up album '8th Day Off Da Week,' has not been issued a release date.
