Slim Thug wants the public to know that even rappers are affected by the recession. The Texan rapper made an appearance on Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart' last night to shed some light on the way hip-hop stars were coping in the recession. Slim gave a mock interview to Daily Show correspondent, Wyatt Cenac, explaining that just about everyone has had to make alterations to their lifestyle due to the current lull in the economy.Tonight, Slim will make a follow-up appearance on the show to premiere his new parody video "Still a Boss," which explains in more detail, the specific -- and outrageous -- ways rappers have adjusted their spending. The video is co-directed by Comedy Central's Wyatt Cenac and Stu Miller who were responsible for organizing Slim's interview segment.
The two admitted that they had no previous experience working with hip-hop videos, but told Allhiphop.com that they were confident in the result. "This was the first music video I'd ever worked on and thankfully we had so many top notch video veterans involved from the grips to the DP to the PA's it was almost impossible for me to screw it up," Miller said. "I tried, but no dice."

Miller said that the crew opted to use recession-savvy alternatives in place of typical hip hop staples in an effort to combine the "visual style and standard conventions of a rap music video with our jokes about rappers cutting back in the recession." "So, Smart Cars instead of Lamborghinis, clipping coupons instead of pouring Hennessy," Miller said. "We wanted it to be a bit more subtle too, and I think (hope) we pulled it off."
In light of the successful collaboration, Miller humorously pointed out that he was expecting a slightly different attitude from Slim Thug. "We were waiting for Slim to give us some of that classic 'rapper attitude' we'd heard so much about (showing up late, being surly to the production staff etc.) he said. "Unfortunately, as much as I pleaded with him to at least trash the green room on his way out, he just wouldn't do it. Maybe for the next video."
'Still A Boss,' will air on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart at 11:00pm on Comedy Central.
