Master P Plans to Feed One Million People This Holiday Season

New Orleans' original rap mogul Master P has announced an initiative to feed and clothe at least one million people this holiday season. Despite a rap repertoire that includes tracks like 'Ghetto D,' a crack recipe with beats, Master P publicly renounced his gangster lifestyle in 2006 to focus on more humanitarian goals. He is partnering with the One Million Gifts charity, an organization which helps provide resources for the homeless, mentally and physically disabled and people suffering from addictions.

"Growing up in poverty made me realize that most crimes are committed during Thanksgiving and Christmas," Master P said in a recent interview. "Not only will we feed and clothe one million, but we can help prevent a lot of those in need from committing crimes like robbing and stealing the food or gifts they can't afford during the holidays. Our mission is to bring hope to families by offering programs that help educate and rehabilitate families back into society."

P, born Percy Miller, founded No Limit Records in 1994 and has since sold over 75 million albums worldwide."Eight years ago, I realized that education saves lives and being charitable and helping those in need has given me a profound happiness in my life, as there is nothing more rewarding than bringing smiles to children who are less fortunate," Miller said, explaining his decision to pursue more charitable work. "OneMillionGifts.org specializes in these areas. Therefore, I'm honored to be a part of this team."
One Million Gifts describes itself as an organization of "ordinary people doing extraordinary things." To that end, Miller says he will leave no stone unturned in his quest to feed and clothe, reaching out to the many friends and contacts he's acquired over the years, ordinary or otherwise.

"Even with the current downfall of the economy, each one of us can help make a difference by volunteering or donating," Miller concluded. "I'm also reaching out personally to corporations, entrepreneurs, pro-athletes, entertainers, churches, foundations, radio stations, online media, TV stations, Oprah, Dr.Phil, and others that can help bring awareness to this great cause."

Master P's 'bout it, what are you doing this holiday season?
