Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to attempted possession of a weapon earlier today in a New York courtroom. The Grammy winner, whose road to success has been full of legal bumps, agreed to a plea bargain that carries a sentence of up to a year in prison. Wayne originally pleaded not guilty to the charges and was set to head to trial for the weapon possession case in January 2010.According to reports, New York police pulled over Wayne's tour bus on July 22, 2007 following a concert at the Beacon Theatre and searched the bus after they claimed the scent of marijuana smoke drifted out of the door. Authorities said the rapper attempted to conceal a Louis Vuitton bag containing a weapon. Prosecutors later said DNA found on the loaded gun would link Wayne to the weapon.
Unofrtunately, this isn't Wayne's only legal woe. The multi-platinum rapper is scheduled for trial in Arizona on felony drug possession and weapons charges after a search of his tour bus in Yuma, Ariz. turned up cocaine, ecstasy and a handgun.
