Nas is still fighting to keep his money from ending up in the pockets of ex-wife Kelis.According to TMZ.com, Nas' lawyer, Marc Vincent Kaplan, filed legal papers requesting the judge bar his ex from receiving the $72,728 a month in spousal support she has requested. Additionally, the Queensbridge rapper is seeking joint custody of their infant son Knight.
As previously reported, Nas was ordered to pay Kelis $44,000 in child and spousal support plus her legal fees. Kelis' lawyer Laura Wasser filed a motion to increase the payments based on Nas' monthly income of $240,000. But Kelis didn't stop there; she also asked for more than $400,000 in additional support.
While pregnant, Kelis argued that she was totally dependent on her Nas' financial support as she was not able to work. A judge ordered Nas to foot the bill for her monthly mortgage payments, prenatal expenses and medical insurance.
The couple split in April, citing irreconcilable differences. When they were spotted together recently in a New York City nightclub, it sparked rumors of a reconciliation, but that is clearly not the case.
These days Nas can't seem to catch a break, at least financially. Last month the IRS filed a lien against him for tax payments totaling $2,584,206.31 stemming from unpaid taxes in both 2006 and 2007.

I say, Why would Kelis need so much child support? This sounds rediculously high. What is wrong with the judge anyways? Sounds like a set up to me. I hope Naz wins. I am sure he will be there for the baby.

People are saying that the support amount is too high, but what if you are custom to living such a lifestyle. If they was still married and he would be giving the support the child needs but not that they are not they say it is too much. he is making all this money and she is raising his child he should be willing to give that with out a question because it is his duty to make sure that his child would be taken care of just like he wants him to be so no amount of money is too much money for a good mother or father to raise their child.

It doesn't matter what kind of life she has become ACCUSTOMED to. If they WERE still married, this wouldn't be an issue. The fact is, they are not. She can now go back and find out how real people make their way in the world. Now, Sonya, go out an educate yourself with an English book and also learn about how decent people learn to take care of themselves without some bizarre sense of entitlement to lifelong care by someone else. Pathetic.

I agree 100% with Lita. Why would she need that much money for child support? That's more than some people make in a year.

I agree Sonya. When people as my what my childsupport is and I tell them, first thing they say is that is way too high. NO it isn't that was actually wayyyy less than my ex and i were spending on our son when he was together. Childsupport isn't based on the dollar figure. In florida is is based off 30% of the combined income. and of that combined income the wife contributes her share and the husband contributes his share. His money isn't that only money supporting my son. I spend wayyyy more a month that his childsupport. Stop looking at the dollar amount and look at the percentage. If you got it to give, you should give it.

he should be happy to pay the back taxes...backing up obama plan to share the wealth.. and it also seems like she dont have money so ,she should be supported well enough to raise THEIR kid plus take care of her...(this is called earning a living on your back..rich style...lol)
hambonesgraphixat 11-03-2009
there's one problem, people with money don't want to share the wealth, case in point ,naz, obama's plan borders on socialism , this is america , get used to it naz
