For most artists an alias supports an attempt to create something a bit outrageous on an album -- think Mary J. Blige's rapping alter ego "Brook" or Beyonce's "Sasha Fierce." But if you're Redman -- real name, Reginald Noble -- using your real name as your alias would be the outrageous thing to do. This December, the New Jersey rapper will release the new album 'Reggie Noble 9 1/2,' which he says will be titled after his alter ego.

According to Redman, his alter ego will provide both pop tracks and auto-tune on the new album. "Reggie Noble is doing the album, not Redman. Let's get that clear," he said. "Reggie Noble don't give a f---! He wanna do Auto-Tune. He wants to do a pop record. He just wants to do music because he loves music."

Now, just in case anyone is confused about the difference between Redman and Reggie Noble – and I think we all are -- one of those two people took a minute to clear that up. "The difference between Reggie Noble and Redman is that this 'Reggie Noble' album is more conceptual," Red said of his seventh solo album. "I had fun on it. I'm just throwing it out, giving it to Def Jam." Okay, got it.

After releasing the joint album 'Blackout 2' with Method Man earlier this year, Red says that he will return to the character of Redman for his 2010 LP, 'Muddy Waters II,' the sequel to his 1996 album. "I'm taking it back on 'Muddy Waters II' with the hard lyrics, so I'm not losing nothing or missing anything," he said. "I'm gaining."
