Notorious B.I.G. Apologized to Xscape for 'Dreams' Lyrics the Night He Died

Xscape
Kandi Burruss, a former member of the '90s R&B group Xscape, revealed that the Notorious B.I.G. apologized the night he died for unflattering lyrics about the foursome in his song 'Dreams.' In the song Big ponders sexual escapades with a slue of female musicians that he name drops. "I'll f--- Rupaul before I fuck them ugly a-- Xscape b----es/You can 76 the 69 try 68/Did Raven Simone call date rape?/Only 'cause I'm paid."

Burruss said that Big was not the first person to comment on their looks. "When Biggie dogged us out on his song I was highly pissed about it," she said in an interview. "Because the thing about it was when we were young we had that hip-hop baggy clothes tomboy image, so we [weren't] in to all the makeup and the glamour stuff back then. For him to dog us out like that I was like 'that's a little bit harsh."

The night of Biggie's untimely murder, the R&B group -- sisters LaTocha and Tameka Scott, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, and Burruss -- happened to be at the same L.A. party as the rapper. "Tiny walked around and I guess she ran into him and he was apologizing to her for what he said about us." At the time, Burruss was not buying his attempt at making amends but had no idea that his life would come to a tragic end hours later. "I feel so bad. I feel horrible. That's why you should never really hold grudges."

Discovered by producer Jermaine Dupri in Atlanta, Xscape signed to his So So Def label and dropped hits 'Just Kickin It,' 'Who Can I Run To,' and 'My Little Secret.' They group disbanded in 2005 after releasing three studio albums.
