Drake Says 'Thank Me Later' Will Likely Debut in February

Even though his music is all over the radio these days, rapper Drake is still hard at work on his debut, 'Thank Me Later.' In a recent interview, the actor-turned-rapper revealed that he will drop the album in February but has yet to lock down an official release date.

"This is my first album and it takes a lot for me to commit to a song and be like, 'I like this enough that I'm [going to] put it on the album," he said. "It takes a lot for me to put a song onto that list. It's [going to] be something that I feel is timeless and is better than anything that I've ever done. Towards the end, you listen to it as a full body of work and start to appreciate certain songs that you may not have seen the vision for initially. I'm getting there though."

Another item on his list will be to choose a single. Much like his 'So Far Gone Mixtape,' which was powered by the hit 'Best I Ever Had,' Drake plans on recording a bunch of songs and picking the most popular track. "I'm a big believer that everything should happen organically and if it doesn't then something's not right, and I don't really want to change my formula. Before I start working a single, I need to get about 10, 15, 20 songs done so I can pick from a batch of music as opposed to just committing to something right now."

In the past year the Toronto native has collaborated with big name hip-hop artist like Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and Eminem but doesn't plan on having many features on his album. As far as production goes he's planning on meeting with Timbaland and will work with Kanye West. "Kanye and me have a lot of work to do together."

Expect 'Thank Me Later' in stores February 2010.
