Marlow "Bow Wow" Jones, a California man employed by an anti-gang program, was sentenced on Tuesday (Nov. 24) for robbing troubled Bone Thugs-N-Harmony rapper Bizzy Bone. Jones and three friends pleaded guilty to beating and robbing Bizzy Bone in a hotel room in Universal City, California. Jones worked for a city sponsored anti-gang program called Unity One at the time of the incident, and he admitted in court that the robbery was gang-related.
Jones received 12 years in prison for his role in the crime, during which Bizzy was choked and robbed of his jewelry.
Jones' co-defendants received similarly severe sentences, ranging from 6 to 19 years, based on their criminal history and role in the robbery.
Bizzy has had a rough time over the past decade; he fell out with his group, then spent years struggling with alcohol, drugs and well as mental illness, ending up "voluntarily" homeless in 2004.
The recently reunited Bone Thugs is currently working on their forthcoming album, 'Uni 5: The World's Enemy' which is scheduled for a Dec. 22 release.
Though Bizzy and the rest of the group have finally made their amends, Bizzy will not be available for promotional appearances for the album, as he will be attending a court-ordered drug rehabilitation. We wish him the best.
