Singer Chris Brown will follow in Rihanna's footsteps, sitting down appearing on ABC's 'Good Morning America' to address their physical altercation and perform songs off his forthcoming 'Graffiti' album. According to reports the 20-year-old's appearance on the show is causing controversy. "Chris Brown's interview is to give him a chance to respond to Rihanna's interview," an insider told the New York Post. "GMA hopes his appearance could provide a ratings boost, just like Rihanna's 'GMA' interview earlier this month."Brown will sit down with 'GMA' anchor Robin Roberts, who recently snagged pop icon Janet Jackson's first television interview following the death of her brother, Michael. The interview also comes on the heels of a canceled appearance by 'American Idol' alum, Adam Lambert, whose male-on-male sexually explicit performance at this year's American Music Awards caused him to be dropped from the morning show. "The network is giving a mixed message," said a source at ABC. "It doesn't trust someone who shocked with an unpredictable show and a gay kiss, but then it is happy to go ahead with Chris Brown, who was convicted of felony assault."
Since assaulting Rihanna in February, Brown has given a handful of television and radio interviews in which he explained parts of the incident but continues to steer clear of going too much into detail. "I don't feel like it's appropriate for me to speak on what actually happened on that night, just out of respect for Rihanna and myself," he told CNN's Larry King in an interview in September. He has also been getting back into the swing of things, promoting his album, and embarking on a Fan Appreciation Tour, as a thank you to all who stood behind him after the incident. Additionally Brown was sentenced to five years probation, 180-days of community labor, must complete a domestic violence class and is to stay away from Rihanna. At his first hearing since being sentenced, a Los Angeles judge gave Brown favorable reviews for keeping up with his legal obligations.
'Graffiti,' hits stores Dec. 8.
