Jay-Z to Co-Headline UK's Isle of Wight Festival

Jay-Z's slot at the 2008 Glastonbury music festival irritated former Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher so much that the Brit singer was forced to express his 'anti-hip hop at Glastonbury' sentiments. Then Noel Gallagher's comment amused Jay-Z so much that it inspired a line in the Brooklyn rapper's hit single '99 Problems.' Now, a year later, the announcement has been made that Jay-Z will be headed back to the UK in 2010, this time to headline the Isle of Wight music festival.

After opening up his Glastonbury appearance by performing to a montage of Gallagher's songs, Hov scored big with the audience, winning himself another invite to rock with the guitar-wielding crowd. The annual Isle of Wight festival will run from June 11-13 in and will feature performances from a slew of artists including Pink and Blondie. Jay-Z and fellow New Yorker's, The Strokes, will share headlining duties, with Jay-Z filling in the Friday night spot and The Strokes following suit on Saturday.

The festival is expected to attract over 55,000 fans and according to promoter John Giddings, Jay-Z and The Strokes were natural choices to headline the musical extravaganza. "Ever since I heard the first Strokes album, I've wanted them for the Isle of Wight," Giddings said. "Jay-Z and Pink are two of the best live acts I have ever seen and the Blondie hits speak for themselves. I can't wait."

Tickets for the Isle of Wight festival go on sale Friday, Dec. 4. The concert will be held at Seaclose Park, Newport.
