While Canadian rapper Drake's popularity inspired a bidding war that most considered impossible in the current climate, he may still fall victim to the music industry's "release anxiety," which has claimed the careers of so many similarly buzzed-about rappers.Drake's highly anticipated debut, 'Thank Me Later,' originally moved from a January 2010 to a "firm" Valentine's Day release date, has once again been officially pushed back, according to a recent announcement by the Young Money artist. Though Drake didn't know when his album would actually be seeing release, he seems optimistic about a March release.
"Well I'm making great progress on it. I'm hoping for March now. It's just pulling everybody together," he told MTV. We're not sure what they're waiting for; 'Thank Me Later' features Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy and possibly even Sade, if Drake has his way.
"I had a wish list for my managers of everybody I wanted involved that stem beyond hip-hop. I'm trying to pull it all together. I'm really trying to work with Sade," Drake said. "Lil Wayne will be on it. Young Jeezy, Jay-Z, Kanye will be doing work on it. It's in the family." Drake is up for two Grammy Awards for his hit 'Best I Ever Had,' which means he's likely to receive a Grammy without having an album out. Pretty impressive, let's hope the label gets their end together.
