Legendary Wu-Tang producer/rapper RZA has announced plans to unveil a conceptual art project on Jan. 1. The piece is entitled 'Victory or Death,' and is a "reworking of history onto massive canvas that focuses on the concept of hearing the call and revolution in an inspiring and provocative way," according to RZA.Though few details about the artwork have been revealed at this time, the work has been described as a "highly fine art release," which is being shown by a group called WAIL (When Art Imitates Life), in commemoration of RZA's epic 20-year career.
"It didn't begin 20 years ago ... more like 200 years ago. And when you see the piece we're making right here, you're going to know what I'm talking about," RZA explained in a recent interview. "We're about to rewrite and change history."
WAIL's mission is to help create and promote fine art made by iconic musicians. The group is owned by MTV host Sway Calloway and longtime radio partner King Tech, as well L.A.'s SceneFour, a creative house, specializing in design and branding. 360 RZA prints will be made available to the public on January 1, 2010.
