Big Boi Defends 'Slow-Cooked' New Album

'Sir Luscious Left Foot,' the long anticipated solo record from Outkast's Big Boi, is becoming one of those endless journey albums like Dr. Dre's 'Detox' or Raekwon's 'Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2.' The wait was initially due to some vague scheduling complications at Jive. While short on specific details, Big Boi explained that shifts in the music industry, marketing and album promotion cycles were responsible for the wait. Now he's using the extra time to create new material and make 'Sir Luscious Left Foot' as fresh as he possibly can.

"Every song that I put out sounds totally different from previous songs I put out," explained Boi to Billboard. "I slow-cooked this album and, man, I'm just so happy it's about to come out. I cannot wait to give it to the fans. There's been a lot of stops and starts with this project. I've just been trying to make sure we've got the right avenues and the right brains and mindsets together to get the marketing and promoting behind it."

After logging nearly three years of hard work on 'Sir Luscious Left Foot,' Big Boi is understandably careful about what he's intending to release. He claims that the record has become like a child to him and that he'll only let it go when everything is absolutely perfect. If the teaser leaks -- most notably 'Shine Blockas' featuring Gucci Mane -- are any indication, then fans are truly in for a treat.

He continued, "When you work on something for, like two years and 11 months, it's like your baby. You want to make sure that everybody has taken the project the way they're supposed to be taking it and the setup is right."
