Rapper Lil Wayne's long awaited, oft delayed "rock" album, 'Rebirth' has been pushed back, once again. The record, which was most recently moved from a December 15 release date to December 21, has now been delayed until 2010.
Fortunately, the new setback hasn't affected the release of Wayne's Young Money group album, 'We Are Young Money.' The Young Money album, which features Drake and NIcki Minaj, was initially going to be sold as a bundle with Wayne's release, but fans will be happy to know that it is still coming out in 2009, as planned.
"'Rebirth' album pushback Feb. 1," Cash Money exec Baby tweeted, adding "Young Money out December 21"
"I play guitar on 80 percent of the songs, and there's a lot of rock influences and rock beats," Wayne said about 'Rebirth.' "I also have Travis Barker on the album. But I don't want people to think I'm trying to do something I can't do. Don't think you're going to put on the album and hear me screaming and singing."
Though neither Cash Money nor Wayne's label Universal have made an official statement regarding the delay, a February release date makes sense, coinciding with Wayne's sentencing for the gun charge he plead guilty to back in October.
Hopefully, the delay will work in Wayne's favor. Thus far the leaks have been pretty dismal.
