Lil Wayne, Eminem 'Rebirth' Collaboration Leaks, Amazon to Blame?

Lil Wayne's 'Rebirth' album seemed like it might have been buried for a minute. After suffering numerous delays and missed deadlines, the rock-inspired record was given a Dec. 15 release date, only to be pushed back again to February of 2010 due to the Weezy's legal problems and impending jail stint. However, it seems that someone at Amazon.com didn't get that last memo and prematurely mailed pre-orders of the album on its original release date.

The apparent mix up was traced back to the online retailer when the surprise Wayne and Eminem collaboration 'Drop The World' leaked this morning. The track opens with Wayne employing his usual laidback singsong persona to icy synthesizer touches. "I got ice in my veins/ Blood in my eyes/ Hate in my heart/ Love in my mind," Wayne raps. Then everything sort of explodes with that overblown radio sound we've heard on other leaked 'Rebirth' tracks, namely 'Da Da Da' and the Giorgio Moroder-sampling 'On Fire.'

Thus far, Eminem's famed 'Renegade' collaboration with Jay-Z has frequently come up in the online discussion of the new 'Rebirth' track. On that head-to-head, Eminem stole the show and somehow one-upped the King. Lyrically, emotionally and flow-wise, he does the same to Wayne on 'Drop The World.' "It hurts, but I'll never show this pain, you'll never know," Em raps. "If only you could see just how lonely and how cold/ And frostbit I've become, my back's against the wall/ When push come to shove, I just stand up and scream 'F--- 'em all.'"

Nonetheless, it's a positive development that Wayne finally got his wish for a big collaboration with Slim Shady. Before today, there was no indication that 'Rebirth' was really going to come out, but there's really no way they are going to let such an epic track wallow away on a locked drive somewhere and Amazon seems to want it off its shelves.
