Despite the news of her parents' imminent divorce, Beyonce Knowles plans on warming things up this winter. The former Destiny's Child member will release her new fragrance 'Heat' this February and is very excited about to getting the scent to her fans."I'm so happy with it," she told fashion industry outlet WWD.com of the perfume. "I've been working on it for a while now. I was on tour for a year and I [would] have meet-and-greets with fans [to smell the fragrance]. I've never in my life gotten so many compliments. Coty [who holds the license to 'Heat'] has their own testing, but that was my testing! The fans loved it."
Beyonce says the name of her new fragrance was inspired from tours she's done in the past. "A lot of my performances have had fire involved, so we thought 'Heat.' Also, red is one of my favorite colors, as is gold," she says of what influenced the colors and frame of the bottle. "So then we thought of making the bottle look like it's on fire. I love antique bottles -- my mother has a collection of them when I was growing up. I wanted something with an antique yet modern feeling. Even with my wardrobe, I always try to find things that have a little bit of something vintage, yet still timeless and classic. The bottle, I felt was a great mixture of the two."
Bey developed 'Heat' with sensory innovator Givaudan. It will retail from $40-$60 and has top notes of red vanilla orchid, magnolia, neroli, blush peach, honeysuckle nectar, almond macaroon, creme de musk, sequoia milkwood, tonka bean and amber. Sorry jasmine and gardenia, you lose. Sounds yummy though, doesn't it?
The fragrance is estimated to rank in $100 million at retail globally in its first year and industry sources estimate 'Heat' could represent a $300 million market opportunity within a few years.
