Lil Wayne's 'The Nino Brown Story, Pt. 2' Hits the Net
The trailer to Lil Wayne's forthcoming DVD 'The Nino Brown Story, Pt. 2' hit the net Monday (Dec. 21), giving fans a view of life through the Grammy-winning rapper's eyes. Wayne teamed with DJ Scoob Doo for the follow up to the 2008 documentary of the same name. Lighting a marijuana joint, the opening scene of the trailer finds the sometimes reclusive Wayne detailing his first taste of success. "I was still in school after I dropped my first solo album, 'Tha Block Is Hot.' It was platinum and I was still in school."
As a reward for his then budding musical career, Wayne's Cash Money labelhead Brian "Baby" Williams gifted the then youngster with a Mercedes-Benz Kompressor and later a BMW two-seater. The draw of such earning potential aided in Wayne's decision to drop out of school, but not without reaching a compromise with his mother. "I couldn't go to school no more," he said. "My mom, she made me quit. She said, 'Look, I'm going to let you quit school, but them b-----s better get you a tutor!' I was like, 'B [Baby] my mama said I gotta get a tutor.' I had a tutor that next day."
Away from his mother's eye, Wayne, who admitted that he has always loved school, admitted to sometimes sneaking into campus classes. "They used to make me get off the campus and all kinds of wild sh--," he recalled. "I'm my own millionaire! You gonna' really kick me off a public school campus? I just was going to this [school] last week, making straight A's!" Surprisingly, Wayne's knack for higher education didn't go away because of his fame, in 2005 the New Orleans native enrolled at the University of Houston where he studied psychology. Despite his hectic schedule Wayne took classes online and reportedly maintained good grades before discontinuing his studies.
Other scenes in the sneak peak find Wayne walking through his Miami home filled with sneakers, baseball caps and piles of clothes littering his kitchen -- of all places. More footage of the film will be revealed on MTV this week. There is no word yet on the DVD's official release date.
