The release date for Dr, Dre's long-delayed album 'Detox' has become a kind of running joke amongst fans. The legendary California producer has been working on the record for more than 10 years now, with no scheduled release in sight."Hopefully, I'll get it done at the end of this year, and we can hear it next year," Dre said in 2009.
To be fair, reference tracks for the album featuring vocals by T.I., Eminem, Nas and more leaked early last year, and a brand new Dre track appeared in a Dr. Pepper ad, yet a solid release date was never confirmed.
Now, once again, Dre appears to be delaying his release. In the recent (March) issue of basketball magazine SLAM, Dre was asked about the status of the album, to which he responded casually, "Well, I'm working on it, but also I've been working on other people's projects; you'll probably hear something in a year or so."
So in other words, it's a 2011 release date for 'Detox,' but realistically, never.
