Big Boi Launches New Chapter of Big Kidz Charity

In the wake of the earthquake in Haiti, the hip-hop community has really stepped up its charitable work. Outkast's Big Boi has just announced that his Big Kidz Foundation, an Atlanta youth organization aimed at "positively affecting literacy, mathematics, public speaking, and artistic inclination through use of humanities," will be opening a new chapter in Savannah, Georgia.

"It is my hope that the children in these undeserved communities officially become part of the national conversation that we have been left out of for years," Big Boi stated. "The efforts within this program will not only stress education, but will stress exposure to culture."

To that end, Big Boi visited Savannah High School recently, speaking to the student body. "I was born in Savannah and grew up here," the rapper explained. "I remember growing up and not knowing there were a lot of things for our youth and ever since then I've been speaking to them and I think that Big Kidz will get them prepared as well."
