Hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs and rapper-turned-actor Queen Latifah will co-host BET's telethon for Haiti. Dubbed 'S.O.S. Saving OurSelves: Help for Haiti,' the three-hour televised concert will also include performances by Ciara, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige, Ludacris, Justin Beiber and Robin Thicke. According to reports, the cable network chose to tape the event at Miami's American Airlines Theater on Feb. 5 due to the city's close proximity to Haiti.Producer Pharrell Williams, who has been very moved by the catastrophe in Haiti, announced that he will also participate. "The devastation that has occurred in Haiti has broken my heart," he said in a statement. "My hope is that we can raise enough money to sustain a few of the relief organizations for quite some time as there is a lot of work to be done over there. The goal is not only to bring immediate relief to Haiti but to also rebuild the country and help the country move forward."
BET previously held a similar telethon to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. All proceeds from the event will benefit Haiti Relief organizations such as Yele Haiti, Project Medishare and CARE. Tickets for the show will be available via Ticketmaster. In addition to BET, the program will air on MTV and VH1 at 8PM EST.
