New Orleans rapper-turned-entrepreneur Percy "Master P" Miller is planning a Super Bowl benefit concert that will raise money to rebuild Haitian schools in the aftermath of the country's devastating 7.0 earthquake. The former rapper and No Limit Records founder witnessed the disaster of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and has since dedicated much of his time towards humanitarian efforts.
"Seeing the process that the Hurricane Katrina victim kids have gone through, I understand the importance of the immediate need to help start the recovering and rebuilding process for education and getting kids back into the school system," Miller explained. "The earthquake has destroyed many schools. I'm teaming up with young entertainers, throwing a concert, and reaching out to young stars that want to make a difference. Kids can get involved and make a difference in Haiti."
Though fellow members of the hip-hop community have contributed in similar manners, Miller said that he hopes the work that has begun doesn't end when the media coverage does. "This is definitely not an overnight process," Miller said of rebuilding efforts. "This will take several years."The proceeds from Miller's concert will go towards iHeartHaitiKids.org which will help rebuild Haitian schools, donate school supplies and books, hopefully put Haiti's "devastated kids on track to receive a proper education in their recovery process."
