Fans of Alicia Keys know that the talented artist is no stranger to philanthropy. On many occasions, Keys has lent her voice to the Keep a Child Alive foundation, of which she is also a co-founder and Global Ambassador. The non-profit organization works on an issue close to the singer's heart -- providing medicine to families with HIV and AIDS in Africa.Back in 2006, Keys traveled to the continent for a month-long journey that had a profound impact on her life. While visiting Uganda, Kenya and South Africa, she witnessed firsthand the stories of people infected with HIV who displayed immense bravery and resilience in the face of immeasurable hardships. Alicia's experience was captured for the documentary 'Alicia in Africa, Journey to the Motherland,' which allowed her to spread awareness about the need for lifesaving drugs and care for the people of Africa.
