Shyne Signs Seven-Figure Deal with Former Label

According to reports, former Bad Boy rapper Shyne has signed a seven-figure deal with Def Jam records.

The Belize-born rapper, who was recently released from prison after serving more than nine years for a club shooting involving Sean "Diddy" Combs and Jennifer Lopez, has been deported back to Belize, where he's been living and recording since October.

Despite his immigration status, a bidding war began for the deep-voiced rapper, who opted to sign with L.A. Reid and Def Jam over Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre at Interscope. Shyne has worked with Def Jam in the past. His 2004 release 'Godfather: Buried Alive,' was released by the label and Reid while Shyne was still incarcerated. When the album did not fare as well as the rapper had hoped he publicly called out Reid for failing to properly promote the record.

Shyne is reportedly being managed by Kyambo "Hip Hop" Joshua and Gee Roberson, whose group, HipHopSince1978 also co-manages Kanye West, Drake, Lil Wayne and Young Jeezy.

Due to Shyne's deportation, he plans to relocate to London for work on his forthcoming album.

Congrats to L.A. Reid, Kyambo "Hip Hop" Joshua and Gee Roberson of HipHopSince1978 for signing Shyne. I can't wait to hear his music and hope he comes back bigger than ever.
