A criminal complaint has been filed against a Georgia promoter in connection with a scheduled performance by Atlanta rapper Gorilla Zoe. The deep-voiced former Boyz N da Hood rapper was booked to perform at the Cartersville, Ga. club Café Del Sol on Friday, Feb. 12, but never appeared.
According to the club's owner, the promoter who booked the show received a $1,250 deposit, and, claiming Zoe was "nearby," requested the final $1,250 of his performance fee, which was paid in full. The promoter then disappeared, and neither he, nor Gorilla Zoe returned, leaving a crowd of angry fans behind.
The owner of Café Del Sol has since filed a theft by deception criminal complaint against the promoter. Gorilla Zoe, who is currently touring in the south, has yet to respond to the club owner's allegations. His second album 'Don't Feed Da Animals' was released in March 2009.
