Sade Lands First No. 1 Album in More Than 20 Years

SadeSade fans proved that the band's latest release 'Soldier of Love' was long overdue after moving 502,000 copies and pushing the album to the top of the Billboard 200 chart during its debut week. This marks the first time that the group snagged a No.1 album since their 1986 release 'Promise,' which stayed atop the Billboard charts for two consecutive weeks.

In promotion of the album, the sometimes reclusive lead singer, Sade Adu, hit-up several talk shows including BET's '106 & Park,' 'The View,' and 'Jimmy Kimmel Live.' In an interview with radio disc-jockey Tom Joyner, the British born singer also revealed her somewhat surprising musical taste. "I like songs with sort of more heavy rap," she said. "I like Raekwon's album ['Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II'], you know from the Wu-Tang Clan. I listen to just about anything that speaks to me."

Following a 10-year hiatus the group announced their return to the music scene late last year. Their last album 'Lovers Rock' sold over three million units domestically and earned them a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album in 2002.

Well, certainly not another "Sweetest Taboo" but a very nice piece. If Sade wants to do one (only one) accoustic piece, I'm available..Alfred

I guess it's just human nature to be curious but after 25 years you'd think her disappearing acts were just to highten her mysterious image - simple put - no!!! The girl wants a life outside showbiz. The next thing the tabloids will want to know is "exactly" what a Nigerian Lecturer is. This artist through the past 3 generations has given us something amazingly different than the Gangsta rapping sorrows of the lost souls of the ghetto and its perilous world that glorifies killing and disrespecting life itself. We should rather delve into those glorious sounds of 'her' and her so movingly wonderous music which sends us to that regal place that so touches our souls.
