Many items from the estate of former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight's belongings were sold at auction this past weekend (Feb. 20) in Simi Valley, Calif. The gangsta rap kingpin fell on hard times after his label's '90s heyday, collecting a variety of charges and serving several years in prison, filing for bankruptcy, and receiving a public beating at the hands of one of Akon's associates.
Now it appears that Knight's failure to pay several thousand dollars worth of storage bills has resulted in the furnishings from his Malibu mansion being auctioned off by Conejo Valley Moving & Storage, the storage company to which he was indebted.
The items sold included gym equipment, appliances and many personal effects, including a photo of Knight and former Death Row rapper Tupac Shakur, which went for around $100. The entire lot reportedly sold in approximately 30 minutes.
The turnout for the auction was bigger than usual for the storage company, due to Knight's notoriety. Many of the bidders present reportedly planned to flip their winnings on eBay, where such items are routinely sold.
The auction earned only $4,500, falling short of the amount owed to the storage company by Knight.
Knight has yet to make a statement about the auction.
