Just hours before her album's deadline, Badu begged her Twitter followers for a connection to Sir Paul. "See the deal is im trying to clear a paul McCartney sample and i hear lenny [kravitz] knows his daughter stella and maybe i can connect w/ her ...," she tweeted. "If i can talk to PAUL MCCARTNEY i can get the sample cleared .. have less than 24 hours or song wont make album . help . it will happen!!"
Putting her faith in the connecting powers of the microblogging social networking service, Badu reached out to Kravitz, as well as his daughter Zoe, Chester French member D.A. Wallach, Madonna's Manager Guy Oseary and finally, McCartney's daughter, Stella.
The hours passed, and with very little time left on the clock, Badu continued to tweet "9 hours to connect with paul mccartney GO!" she wrote, before seemingly getting a hold of Kravitz. "Thanks everybody ! Almost got Lenny ... Let's Go!!!"
At 10 AM this morning, she was finally successful. "Paul McCartney approved the sample. Cleared!!!"
Twitter willing, the song will released on Badu's 5th studio album, 'New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh,' in stores March 30. The album, a followup to her 2008 record 'New Amerykah Part One (4th World War),' features production by Madlib, J Dilla and 9th Wonder...and a cleared Paul McCartney sample.
