Jim Jones Beats Florida Assault Charges

Jim JonesBattery charges against Harlem rapper Jim Jones were officially dropped by the Florida's Attorney's Office on Friday (Feb. 26). The charges stemmed from an incident on March 12, 2009, when the former Dipset capo and several members of his entourage allegedly assaulted a teenager in a parking lot after a show in Panama City, Fla.

Jones was charged with battery, but he pleaded not guilty, claiming that he had not assaulted the teen, Damion Johns. After almost a year, the Attorney's Office let Jones off the hook because they couldn't find sufficient evidence to prove that the rapper had actually taken part in the violence.

The fight was caught on video by a bystander, but the footage, which was used in the case, appears to show Jones breaking up the fight, rather than throwing any punches of his own.
