Boston Rapper Sam Adams Denies Buying Own Music

Collegiate Boston rapper Sam Adams hit No. 1 on the iTunes Hip-Hop chart, but was recently accused of purchasing his own music to achieve his placement. In a prepared statement, the 22-year-old MC, who recorded his first song seven months ago, explained that the more than $75,000 worth of sales he's made on digital downloads of his 'Boston's Boy' EP came via real fans, and not by hi-jinx.

"I know there has been a considerable amount of controversy about my album release and hitting No.1 on the iTunes Hip-Hop charts, and in response I'd like to say that the numbers are legit," Adams said.

Providing an excel spread sheet which he claimed to bare 65,000 unique transactions, Adams continued his defense. "They were organic purchases by fans who simply liked the music to purchase. It's as simple as that really; if something in the marketplace is great and word of mouth spreads about it, purchase is bound to happen."

Respected DJ Mr. Peter Parker supported the rapper's claims, explaining that Adams had a real fan base. "Everybody is pissed the f--- off because Sam Adams is blowing up and they're not. The bottom line is that he found his fan base, and now he's riding it as far as he can."

Adams is currently a senior at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, where he captains the varsity soccer team. His song 'I Hate College,' a reworking on Asher Roth's 'I Love College,' has more than 1 million views on YouTube.

I don't know why there is such a big controversy with Sam Adam's Album going to No 1 on iTunes. I bought it the first day it came out... and told all my friends about it. Is it far fetched that an album that is as good as this is... actually catches on with his fans?

In this jaded world of sour grapes... isn't it funny that more people believe in schemes than the truth? Kind of like more people believing in the Devel, than in God!

Grow up people... Sam Adams is the captain of his Varsity Soccer Team, a graduating Senior... and very talented. I don't know if I could have done that while I was in College getting my engineering degree! Congrats Sam... I wish more good things for you in the future.
