For the most part, Kanye West has stayed underground since his snafu with Taylor Swift last year, yet we've been hearing whispers about a new record pretty consistently during the last six months. Finally, some solid details are starting to take shape. Ye has been recording most of the album in Hawaii -- the same location as his last excursion, '808s & Heartbreak' -- and all reports indicate the artist's fifth full-length, titled 'Good Ass Job,' will be a return to core hip-hop principles. "Talked to s'one who's heard Kanye's next album," tweeted Toure yesterday. "Says it's awesome, it's 'real hip-hop.' Outside producers include Pete Rock, Q-Tip, RZA."
Okay, that already sounds amazing. 'Good Ass Job' is also being positioned as an anti-Auto-tune record already. That's not to say it's a deliberate turnaround on the Auto-tune heavy '808s & Heartbreak,' but this looks like a retreat to something more tried and true.
"Kanye West's new album will make you confused rap n---- go back and listen to BEAT TAPES you've ignored," tweeted DJ Scratch last weekend. "Trust me."
We will trust you, DJ Scratch. Sounds good.
