
Legendary DJ's Premier and Pete Rock will take their turntable skills to Tokyo on May 2, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Manhattan Records.The Tokyo-based record label will put on a special show for turntable enthusiasts celebrating 30 years of distributing hip-hop and electronica music halfway across the globe. DJ Premier and Pete Rock will battle it out at Toyko's Ebisu Liquid Room in front of a packed house.
DJ Premier is half of the legendary hip-hop duo, Gang Starr. The Brooklyn native made a name for himself in the early '90s by creating classic hip-hop beats for artists like Nas and the Notorious B.I.G. with funk, jazz and soul samples. Bronx native, Pete Rock is one half of former hip-hop group, Pete Rock and CL Smooth. Rock's solo production career, and work with artists like the Wu-Tang Clan have cemented him as one of the pioneers of '90s East Coast hip-hop alongside Premier.
