Snoop Dogg Wants to Fill In for Simon Cowell on 'Idol'
Snoop Dogg appeared on CNN's 'Larry King Live' last Friday (March 26) where he dished about everything from his music to Obama and Tiger Woods. But during his sit down with King, Snoop also admitted that he would not be opposed to joining the judge's panel on 'American Idol.' With Simon Cowell set to depart at the end of this season, there has been plenty of chatter about who should fill his shoes – and who better than Snoop?
"I like 'American Idol,'" Snoop said, "I think I would be the perfect host to fill-in." Snoop has had several guest appearances in films and TV shows in recent years, including his own 2007 reality TV project, 'Snoop Dogg's Fatherhood.' The Long Beach native says he's certain that he can hang with the 'Idol' judges. "I understand the dynamics of music and I see stars before they're made," he said. "I feel like they be passing up on some good people 'cause they don't really have it together on their first try."
If nothing else, Snoop would certainly make a humorous addition to the show, sandwiched between Randy Jackson and Ellen DeGeneres. He certainly seems to be up to date on his 'Idol' facts. "I watch it occasionally. I like to see what it do 'cause [there's] always some new talent that's hot," he said. "The four or five people that I've seen that won on the show are still doing well -- Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Jennifer [Hudson], and the boy that played the harmonica ... What's his name?" We presume he means Taylor Hicks.
Snoop released his special CD/DVD combination, 'More Malice' on March 23. It was a follow up to his December album, 'Malice N Wonderland.'
