Legendary producer Pete Rock will be headlining a tribute to jazz great Roy Ayers in Harlem, New York on April 24.Pete Rock will be joined onstage by jazz quartet The Robert Glasper Experiment, performing selections from the revered vibraphonist's catalog that will then segue into the Pete Rock joints that sampled them. According to the press release, "The live reinterpretations and interpolations of both works serve as the conduit to understanding the harmonic relationship between the past and present."
The concert has been organized by Revive Music Group, whose "Revive Da Live" concert series has run since 2006, working to promote "the exposure and education of jazz music among larger, younger audiences, the beauties and history of Hip Hop, it's influence on jazz music today and as always, sustaining the culture of live music within today's mainstream/ commercial industry."
The event takes place at the Aaron Davis Hall in Harlem, at 7:30 PM on April 24. Tickets are available here.
