Is tax trouble becoming the new norm amongst celebrities? Last week it was Faith Evans and this week Toni Braxton is the latest celebrity who's fallen behind on tax payments to Uncle Sam. The singer and her estranged husband Keirston Lewis, who separated last year, owe more than $396,000 in delinquent federal taxes. According to a tax lien filed by the IRS on March 26 in Whitfield County, Ga. Superior Court the couple owes income taxes from 2007 and 2008. In addition to owing back taxes, Braxton is also facing a number of other financial difficulties. Last year she was sued by City National Bank after defaulting on a loan for $900,000 taken out in 2007. She was also reported to have defaulted on her mortgage payments to Bank of America last year for her California mansion.
Toni Braxton is no stranger to financial hardships; trouble with her finances began back in 1998 when she filed for bankruptcy protection in 1998 with more than $1 million dollars of debt.
In other news, Toni Braxton's new album 'Pulse' was originally scheduled for a February release but was pushed back when seven of the ten songs on the CD were leaked to the Internet. The project is now scheduled to be released on May 4, 2010.
