Eminem Scraps 'Relapse 2' for 'Recovery'

EminemEarly on Wednesday morning, April 14, Eminem posted a brief and cryptic message on his Twitter account. "There is no Relapse 2," he wrote, referring to the promised follow up to his 2009 platinum album 'Relapse.' The news sent bloggers into a frenzy, as efforts to confirm the details from his label yielded no definite responses. But as it turns out, this was all a Shady prank.

Less than an hour ago, Eminem followed up with another short tweet that simply read 'Recovery' -- except this time, the message was accompanied by a link to his website, which explains that the album's title 'Relapse 2' had been scrapped in favor of the new title 'Recovery.' According to Eminem.com, the newly renamed album, 'Recovery' will be released on June 22 via Interscope/Aftermath Records. The album is being considered Em's seventh major label studio album and marks the first time he's worked with DJ Khalil, Just Blaze, Jim Jonsin and Boi-1da.

"I had originally planned for 'Relapse 2' to come out last year," Eminem explained on the site. "But as I kept recording and working with new producers, the idea of a sequel to 'Relapse' started to make less and less sense to me, and I wanted to make a completely new album. The music on 'Recovery' came out very different from 'Relapse,' and I think it deserves its own title."

Nice 'Recovery' Shady. Marshall Mathers can claim this victory for his clever use of Twitter.
