It seems that singer Kelis can't wait to be the former Mrs. Jones as she is looking to expedite her divorce from her soon to be ex-hubby, rapper Nas (real name Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones.) TMZ.com is reporting that Kelis filed papers to wrap up divorce proceedings sooner rather than later stating that " it would be in the best interest of both of us if our marital status is terminated as soon as possible." Apparently fearing that hashing out all of the legal and financial details of the divorce will cause the process to drag on even longer, Kelis requested that "other issues" be resolved at a later time.Last week a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge ordered Nas to pay Kelis $229,015.50 for back child and spousal support, plus her legal fees. Although he seems to be on the losing end of the split he recently garnered one victory, when a contempt charge filed against him for falling behind in his child and spousal support payments, was later dropped. "All I want to do is make music and raise my kids," Nas said in a statement. "Nothing else matters."Needless to say, Kelis agrees stating that there is no "possibility of reconciliation" between the two.
Once they put all their legal issues behind them, both will be free to focus on their music. Kelis' latest album 'Flesh Tone' drops July 6, while Nas' collaborative album with Damian Marley 'Distant Relatives' hit stores May 18. Check out the music video for Kelis' 'Acapella' after the jump.
