Lil Wayne's disputes with hip-hop producer Jim Jonsin has resulted in yet another lawsuit between the two parties. In April 2009, Lil Wayne sued Jonsin for copyright infringement, when he learned that the Florida-based producer had not secured permission to sample folk singer Karma-Ann Swanepoel's song 'Once' for his mixtape track 'I Feel Like Dying.'Now Jonsin has returned the favor by slamming Weezy with his own lawsuit for unpaid royalties. Jonsin filed a $500K suit against Wayne on Tuesday, April 20, claiming that he has not received any royalties or payments for co-writing the 2008 hit single 'Lollipop,' despite its impressive run on the charts. Lollipop was the first single released from Lil Wayne's 2008 album 'Tha Carter III.' The single topped the Billboard charts at No. 1, went three times platinum and landed Weezy a Grammy Award for Best Rap Song.
Jonsin's previous work with Cash Money Records includes production on Lil Wayne and Birdman's 2006 album 'Like Father, Like Son.' Jim Jonsin has been responsible for creating several additional hip-hop hit singles including, Soulja Boy's 'Kiss Me Thru the Phone,' and T.I.'s 'Whatever You Like.'
