Florida rapper Plies has announced an interesting promotion for his upcoming album. The 'Plenty Money' rapper will be holding a contest for "everybody who's been supporting me since my mixtape days, all the way to 'Da Realest' to my brand new situation, 'Goon Affiliated' due May 25," as he told MTV. The contest is creatively titled "Goon Affiliated' 25 day Giveaway' and runs from May 1 through May 25, during which time fans can call the tool-free number 1-866-983-2111, and if Plies answers, the caller will receive a special prize. "Every day, for 25 straight days, I'm going to be giving away my own personal items. Big s---. Real big s---," the rapper explained.
According to Plies, the prizes range from iPads to jewelry from his personal stash, and high-value gifts, including college scholarships, health care and mortgage payments.
Fans can enter the contest by sending an email to May25GoonAffiliated@gmail.com, and then calling the giveaway hotline. Plies will only be answering the line once a day, and will be giving away 25 total prizes.
"For me, we felt 'Goon Affiliated' wasn't too gangsta, wasn't too soft," Plies explained of the album title. "It was right in the middle. Kids in the suburbs could have goon friends and be goon affiliated. You could be a street cat and not call yourself a 'goon' but have goon homeboys and be goon affiliated. Or you could be a goon and be goon affiliated. It's a whole diverse situation for me."
