Beyonce turned a few heads this past weekend when she was spotted out on the town with some new artwork on her body. Mrs. Carter sported a fresh "Brooklyn" tattoo on her left hand while she maneuvered the nightclubs in New York City's Chelsea neighborhood.Though it's unlikely that the ink on this new piece is permanent, it has raised some questions about Beyonce's passion for the well-touted borough. She may be wed to one of Brooklyn's most famous personalities -- Jay-Z -- but she can't ditch her Texan past. The R&B beauty was born and raised in Houston, Texas.
However, Beyonce's Brooklyn connections have been expanding steadily in recent months. In March, the singer unveiled a new cosmetology school in Brooklyn's Phoenix House, a substance abuse center. She was first inspired to launch the project while researching a role for her 2008 film 'Cadillac Records' at the rehabilitation house. During the launch ceremony, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz declared Beyonce a "Brooklynite by marriage" and by "moxie," and it seems like Mrs. Carter took the co-sign to heart.
