There's no doubt that Big Daddy Kane has been a well-respected rap titan for almost 25 years, but it took him until last weekend to finally get around to tying the knot. Kane, real name Antonio Monterio Hardy, married his fiancée Shawnette in a private North Carolina ceremony that took place on Saturday, May 1. Kane, a one-time member of the legendary Juice Crew, has always been known for his smooth style and success with the ladies, as well as on the mic. "It was a beautiful ceremony," said one-time opponent and Boogie Down Productions member D-Nice on Twitter. "It was an honor to attend his wedding. We have so much history. During the time when my crew (BDP) & his crew (The Juice Crew) were beefing, Kane & I were friends. I was even his hypeman at an Apollo show."
A one-time Playgirl poser and boyfriend of Madonna, this past weekend's wedding was Kane's first. Kane is widely regarded as a pioneer MC and remains best known for dropping complex rhymes all over 'Long Live the Kane' and 'It's a Big Daddy Thing,' his first two records from 1988 and 1989, respectively.
