Big Daddy Kane Gets Married in North Carolina

There's no doubt that Big Daddy Kane has been a well-respected rap titan for almost 25 years, but it took him until last weekend to finally get around to tying the knot. Kane, real name Antonio Monterio Hardy, married his fiancée Shawnette in a private North Carolina ceremony that took place on Saturday, May 1. Kane, a one-time member of the legendary Juice Crew, has always been known for his smooth style and success with the ladies, as well as on the mic.

"It was a beautiful ceremony," said one-time opponent and Boogie Down Productions member D-Nice on Twitter. "It was an honor to attend his wedding. We have so much history. During the time when my crew (BDP) & his crew (The Juice Crew) were beefing, Kane & I were friends. I was even his hypeman at an Apollo show."

A one-time Playgirl poser and boyfriend of Madonna, this past weekend's wedding was Kane's first. Kane is widely regarded as a pioneer MC and remains best known for dropping complex rhymes all over 'Long Live the Kane' and 'It's a Big Daddy Thing,' his first two records from 1988 and 1989, respectively.

For those of you who come on these sites trying to marginalize an artist simply because YOU DON'T KNOW HIM OR HER---STFU. If you're not into a certain genre of music, so be it--but don't try to marginalize the artist simply because your DUMB a$$ is unfamiliar with the artist & their contribution to the art form.

Most of you only know what's on your narrow-minded little i-pods, MTV, You-Tube, Pop Top 40, or whatever. When I was young (12 or 13), whenever I read about an artist I didn't know anything about, I would go to the Library card file (today you can google)to see what I could find out about them & if I could find some of their music to listen to. This is how at a young age I discovered people like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Grooves Holmes, Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff, etc., and other jazz artists. I also discovered the world of Zydeco Music because I read an article about "Buckwheat Zydeco." Now, that's some good music.

Years from now, some lame, ignorant blogger will come on this site & imply that JAMES BROWN or RAY CHARLES couldn't be that significant because THEY NEVER HEARD OF THEM. Of course, there will always be those of us who will know WHO REALLY IS OF NO SIGNIFICANCE--the idiot WHO DOESN'T KNOW and thinks someone should CARE. lol.

back in the day i was crazy about big daddy and he is still fine. i enjoyed his music back then. the reason these young folk may not know him because all they have out now is a bunch of trashy stuff they call music. every other word is profanity and thats because they have no originality about themselves, back than the rappers could rap and u understood what tehy were saying without the gansta and nasty words, bring back the fat boys.
