According to TMZ, Nas claims he can't afford to pay the court-ordered $10,000 a month in spousal support to ex-wife Kelis. In April, Nas wrote a check for roughly $299,000 that covered back support and Kelis' legal fees, and released a statement that stressed he simply wanted to move forward and 'focus on music.' Just one month later, Nas' ability to focus on music and family is marred by his reported inability to handle his monthly support payments. In court documents obtained by TMZ, the rapper notes that the judge's prior ruling was based on Nas bringing in $152,031 a month, but the Queensbridge emcee says he makes "substantially less than that amount."
Nas' attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan is asking the judge to take another look at his earnings and reevaluate his spousal payments.
