Cypress Hill Cancel Arizona Show Due to Immigration Law

Cypress Hill have canceled a forthcoming tour stop in Tuscan, Ariz., in protest to the state's recently passed SB1070 immigration bill calling their decision a "show of resistance to the criminalization of immigrant communities." The controversial bill allows law enforcement to prejudicially detain anyone suspected of being an illegal immigrant in the state.

The concert was to take place on May 21 at the Rialto Theater, and was among a string of performances behind the SoCal hip-hop act's eighth album, 'Rise Up!' "This decision was made in an effort to show support and solidarity with those, undocumented and otherwise, being directly affected by this unconstitutional 'law," a statement from the band read. "Cypress Hill recognizes those living in the struggle for their basic civil rights."

Cypress Hill join a legion of disapproving musicians, including Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am who recently ranted his disgust at the bill on Twitter. "The racial profiling is aimed at Mexicans," Will wrote. "There are illegal Russians, Chinese, Brazilians, Europeans, Australians and Arabs in the USA. The sad thing is Mexicans do jobs Americans don't do and then we complain like [they] a nuisance."

No word on whether Cypress Hill, whose frontman B-Real is of Mexican lineage, plan to ever reschedule or play the state again.

They look like they should be in prison - not on tour. Maybe they're illegals and don't have the requisite documents once they get stopped in a suspicious neighborhood peddling dope.

i could care less what this group think of the law, and it is the law to be legal!!! i have never heard of this group and probly never will again. arizona is right, in trying to protect their borders, to bad other states do not stand by them, and help them our frderal goverment doesn,t help anyone except illegals, learn to speak engish, and go by american rules or go back to mexico or any other country you come from.so many good people are in america because they stood in line and did what was right so they could be here good luck ARIZONA

The state dept has issued warnings about going to Mexico. Only a fool would travel there. the death toll in some border towns is beyond belief.

Folks should read the weekly bp report, and see just what kind of illegal aliens are getting caught crossing our borders.

Let me amend my previous post then,as I see some people are taking it out of context.I said,"for the people who simply believe that crossing the border is illegal"and it was pointed out to me that crossing the border is illegal.Let me make it more "gramatically correct" then.I never said that this stated belief was untrue, only that it was a belief.I "believe" that the Earth is round that is a belief and it is true at the same time.If you will listen to me i'm not saying that crossing the border illegally is "not" breaking the law,I am saying that there is a way to solve this situation in accordance with American law, namely Hispanics and others who wish to come to this country legally should simply advertise on the Internet for American mates, this renders the whole question of crossing the border a moot point, doesn't it?Foreigners under American law are automatically granted U.S. citizenship simply by virtue of marrying an American citizen.Or is it that you just don't want them here, period legally or illegally?

The law was revised last week. Police can only ask for ID from anyone AFTER they have been detained or arrested for a crime OTHER than suspicion of being in the country illegally.

The boycott has caused loss of 90 million in travel revenue. The people hurt will be the jobs lost primarily by low wage earners that work in the hotels and restaurants.

For those that are uninformed, the law already existed in US immigration law. A few years ago, when Governor Napolitano was Governor of AZ, she forbade the police from detaining anyone that they stopped for a traffic citation if they did not have ID or a green card. She said that the police in AZ were not allowed to enforce the immigration law and had to let anyone without ID go. There was an outcry. Gov Napolitano left her position as Governor to pursue her personal interests and stepped down to take the position offered her by the President as head of Homeland Security, knowing full well that her LT. Gov, a Republican would reverse this policy. She essentially abandoned her constituents.

Its complicated and no one person or party is innocent. Our Congress has ignored this because no one wants to pick a side for fear of losing votes.

And we in AZ are ground zero.
