The divorce between Swizz Beats and Mashonda may be final, but the smoke hasn't cleared just yet. The New York Post is reporting that the former couple, who severed ties just two weeks ago, are headed back to court next month. According to papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court Mashonda says that Swizz owes her $325,000 in equitable distribution and $9,000 in alimony and child support.
"I so much wanted both of us to get on with our lives and maintain our respect for one another, but he now shows that his priorities and sense of responsibility are screwed up," said Mashonda. Her lawyer, Bernard Clair is calling the non-payment "particularly troubling" because of reports that Swizz bought his fiancee Alicia Keys a seven carat engagement ring earlier this year and is moving into a $14.5 million dollar home.
In response to the allegations, Swizz told the NY Post that claims that he owes Mashonda $343,000 is "inaccurate" and "overblown" and that he's gone "above and beyond" to provide for her and their son. He says she has been "making out like a bandit." Swizz says he's already forked over $700,000, a cool $500,000 more than the judge recommended.
"I've been taking blows and punches the whole time. It's like here we go again. She's very fortunate. She's sitting here complaining about things people would love to have. You've got a new house, you've got everything you need ... buying $10,000 bags and stuff like that. Now instead of focusing on work I have to spend time on this foolishness. Enough is enough already."
Swizz Beats and Mashonda Dean were married for four years and share a son together, Kasseem Dean, Jr. Several media outlets are reporting that Swizz is scheduled to marry R&B singer Alicia Keys this summer.
