Beyonce joined Mexican musical duo Rodrigo y Gabriela in providing entertainment at President Obama's White House State Dinner on Wednesday night, May 19. President Obama and his wife Michelle hosted 200 guests at an elaborate four-course dinner party in the White House's East Room to honor Mexican president Felipe Calderon and his wife Margarita Zavala. Attendees at the invite-only event were treated to fare by renowned Chicago chef Rick Bayless. Following the dinner, 104 additional guests enjoyed dessert and a private performance by Beyonce and Rodrigo y Gabriela inside a giant tent on the South Lawn.
Celebrity guests at the prestigious event included actors Whoopi Goldberg, George Lopez, Eva Longoria and Beyonce's husband Jay-Z.
Although Beyonce's performance was revealed only hours before the event, it came as no surprise since the Obamas have long been fans of the Texas-born songstress. Beyonce first performed for Barack and Michelle during the couple's first dance on inauguration night. And in June 2009, First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha attended Beyonce's concert in Washington D.C, where she dedicated 'Single Ladies' to the Obama girls.
