The-Dream Defends Aaliyah Cover
Earlier this week, The BoomBox reported that singer/producer The-Dream released his cover of Aaliyah's classic slow jam 'One in a Million.' After receiving a host of mixed reviews he responded via his Twitter page to address the backlash, but it seems that the self-proclaimed 'Love King' has more to say.
In an interview with radio disc jockey Angie Ange of Washington D.C.'s 93.9 WKYS, Dream spoke candidly about the remake and the buzz it was receiving. "I love it. I love people talking. They [are] always talking. I've got a lot of people on the left a lot of people on the right. At least I was thinking about Aaliyah. That's my take on it ... First of all nobody is going to re-sing it like she sang it. Number two -- don't act like I really butchered the record. Calm down, it's really not that serious. Number three -- Remember how dope she was? The girl was dope and I was a fan of hers."
He also said that the decision to remake the Aaliyah hit came out of respect and was a tribute to the late singer. Initially it was uncertain where the song would appear, but Dream confirmed that it will only be made available on his latest 'Love Sessions' mixtape. Hear more about what The-Dream's has to say about his Aaliyah Remake after the jump.
